Express Entry Open to Foreigners for Permanent Residency in Canada

28 October, Kathmandu. The government led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invited applications for permanent residence from foreigners who want to live in Canada. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Department (IRCC), Canada’s government federal agency, made such a call through the Express Entry system.

Applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class and the Federal Skilled Trades Program can be made through this call from October 10. According to the Financial Times report, this time 1000 people can benefit from this opportunity.

According to the report, the lowest scoring applicant had a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score of 444. One type of language test that applicants must take to settle in Canada is called the CRS. This time more preference is given to those who know the French language.

To be eligible for Express Entry, applicants must pass an approved language test and obtain the minimum marks required for their program. Also, knowledge of English or French language should be proved while filling the application form.

ILCB and NCLC benchmarks are used to measure applicants’ level of English or French. The method used to check how good English or French language is for those who want to move to Canada is called the ILCB and NCLC benchmarks.

The Canadian government selects applicants every two weeks through the Express Entry system. The last selection process under the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) was held on October 7, 2024. The different provinces of Canada select people according to their own needs and at that time 1613 people were invited to apply.

What is the PNP program?

The Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) is a good option for those wishing to live in Canada. Through this program, citizens of other countries can move to a certain province of Canada and live permanently. They can work there, study and live with their families.

Every province in Canada needs different types of skilled workers. For example, an engineer may be needed in one province while a nurse may be needed in another.

Each province selects foreign workers according to its needs. For this they look at things like education, work experience, language skills.

People who come to Canada through PNP get permanent residency. This means, they can stay longer in Canada and bring their families too.

This will help strengthen Canada’s economy and address the shortage of skilled workers in various sectors, while providing foreign workers with opportunities for a better life and a brighter future.
