Kathmandu. The Pakistani team has arrived in Kathmandu to participate in the seventh edition of the SAFF Women’s Championship to be held from October 1st to 14th.
The team arrived last night. The team was welcomed at Tribhuvan Airport by ANFA spokesperson Suresh Shah.
At the last moment, Pakistan got the approval to participate in SAFF amid the confusion of participation/non-participation.
Pakistan will start the tournament by playing the first match against India.
Seven teams from South Asia Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Bhutan and Bangladesh are participating in the championship. The games are scheduled to be held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.
The participating teams are divided into two groups. India and Pakistan are in Group A along with defending champions Bangladesh. In group ‘B’ there are domestic teams Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Nepal is about to hold the SAFF Women’s Championship for the third time in a row. Earlier, the fifth edition was held in Biratnagar in 2019 and the sixth edition was held in Kathmandu in 2022.
Before that, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India organized the SAFF Women’s Championship.
