Manungkot, located southwest of Damauli, the district headquarters of Tanahun district, is a good destination for those who like to enjoy nature. Formerly located in Jamune VDC Ward No. 1, Manungkot is currently located in Byas Municipality Ward No. 5.

Manungkot can be reached from the district headquarters, Damauli, in about 20 minutes by two-wheeler, about half an hour by bus, and in one to one and a half hours on foot. Although the majority of the Magar people live in Manungkot village, Manungkot itself is almost deserted. Currently, only five households remain in Manungkot. Most of the locals have been displaced due to lack of service facilities.
The number of domestic tourists visiting Manungkot increases with the onset of winter. An average of 5-600 domestic tourists visit Manungkot daily to watch the sunrise. Some go for a day trip, while others go for overnight stays.

Getting there
Reaching Manungkot is not an icebreaker. Take a vehicle to Damauli, which is located between Pokhara and Mugling. Once you reach Damauli, there are mainly three options to reach Manung Hill. You can either hike, which is about an hour or two away from Damauli, or you can take public transport or drive to the top of the hill in your own private vehicle.

The 365-day destination is an ideal place to visit any time of the year. But if you want to get the best view of the mist, October, November, December, January, and February are the best times.
