Ghyangphedi is a picturesque village located in Dupcheshwor Rural Municipality of Nuwakot District, Nepal, on the border of Langtang National Park. The village is surrounded by steep and green hills. Gosaikunda is located to the south of the village, making it an ideal destination for trekkers and adventure seekers. Ghyangphedi is home to a majority Tamang population, and their culture and traditions can be seen throughout the year.

Among the most attractive features of Ghyangphedi is its natural beauty, with places like Talu Gaun, Sisipu, Ghyangdanda, and Ghewar being some of the most popular. The village is comparatively larger than the other wards of Dupcheshwor. Most of the people here are engaged in agriculture, which gives visitors a glimpse of their simple lifestyle. In the Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot districts, there is an area called Helambu, which is located north of the Kathmandu Valley and can be reached via Gyangphedi.

Especially here, external and internal tourists can enjoy various outdoor activities including trekking. This place is naturally difficult, so there is not much accessibility. The road bridge has not been developed, but it is felt that it has started gaining momentum.
The main focus of Langtang National Park, which is located near here, or rather on the border, is the red panda. Those who visit this area and go to Gosainkunda via this route can see many other animals, including the endangered red panda.
It takes about 3 hours to reach here by public transport from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Those who want to go can visit this place by taking their own vehicle or renting one. The road to get here is completely paved. There are also dirt roads in places.

The Nepal Tourism Board has identified this destination as a hidden gem in Nepal’s Nuwakot district, offering visitors the chance to experience the natural beauty and culture of the Tamang people. Whether you’re a trekking enthusiast or looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Gangphedi is a destination not to be missed.
Ghyangphedi is now a major homestay destination in the Nuwakot district. Hundreds of tourists flock to the village to experience Nepal’s culture in its raw form. But the village has yet to catch the attention of the mainstream. “You should visit before you reach this place because, like other popular travel destinations in Nepal, it’s only a matter of time before it gets crowded,” says Karamjit Tamang, president of Ghyangphedi Community Homestay, adding that the village has great potential to become a popular tourist destination.
Ghyangphedi
This is a beautiful village surrounded by mountains, from where the natural beauty of Nepal is almost breathtaking. Although you can visit the village to enjoy the homestay experience here, you can also include it as a stopover when going to Gosaikunda or Helambu. Moreover, the income the village generates from tourism has helped its development immensely. “If you had come to this village a few years ago, you would have had a very different experience,” Tamang said, recalling that time.
