Last Updated: April 28, 2026

Planning your Langtang Valley trek itinerary? Whether you have a tight schedule or extra time to explore, here are the three most popular options: 5 days, 7 days, and 10 days. Choose the one that fits your pace and fitness level.

📅 5-Day Langtang Valley Itinerary (Standard)

This is the classic, shortest itinerary. Best for those with limited time but high fitness.

  • Day 1: Drive Kathmandu → Syabrubesi (1,460m) — 7-8 hrs bus/jeep
  • Day 2: Trek Syabrubesi → Lama Hotel (2,480m) — 6-7 hrs
  • Day 3: Trek Lama Hotel → Langtang Village (3,430m) → Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m) — 7-8 hrs
  • Day 4: Explore Kyanjin Gompa, hike to Tserko Ri (5,000 m)—6-7 hrs, then descend back to Lama Hotel—4 hrs
  • Day 5: Trek Lama Hotel → Syabrubesi — 5 hrs, then drive back to Kathmandu

Note on Difficulty: Days 3 and 4 are tough due to gain in altitude and distance. Good fitness required. For a more relaxing 5-day plan, you can skip Tserko Ri.

📅 7-Day Langtang Valley Itinerary (Comfort)

The best Langtang Valley trek itinerary for most trekkers. Better acclimatization, less rush, and more time to explore.

  • Day 1: Drive Kathmandu → Syabrubesi. Overnight.
  • Day 2: Trek Syabrubesi → Lama Hotel. Overnight.
  • Day 3: Trek Lama Hotel → Mundu (3,330m) via Langtang Village. Overnight in Mundu (quieter).
  • Day 4: Acclimatization day! Explore Kyanjin Gompa, hike to viewpoints, and visit the cheese factory. Overnight in Kyanjin.
  • Day 5: Day hike to Tserko Ri (5,000m) summit. Overnight Kyanjin Gompa.
  • Day 6: Trek Kyanjin Gompa → Lama Hotel (long day). Overnight.
  • Day 7: Trek Lama Hotel → Syabrubesi. Drive back to Kathmandu.

Why This is Better: The rest day in Kyanjin helps prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) and allows an unhurried visit to Tserko Ri.

📅 10/11 Days Extended Langtang Trek (Explorer)

For those who want to go beyond Kyanjin and possibly combine with the Tamang Heritage Trail.

  • Days 1-3: Follow the 7-day itinerary up to Kyanjin Gompa.
  • Day 4-5: Side trek to Langshisha Kharka or Yala Base Camp. Explore the upper valley.
  • Day 6-7: Return down to Lama Hotel, then branch towards the Tamang Heritage Trail.
  • Day 8-10: Explore Gatlang and Tatopani (hot springs) traditional villages for a rich cultural experience.

Why Choose This: This Langtang Valley trek itinerary combines stunning nature with authentic Tamang culture, away from the busier main trail.
